Constant Torque
A constant torque VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) is a type of drive designed to deliver constant torque across a wide speed range, typically from low speeds up to the motor’s rated speed. This makes it ideal for applications where the load torque remains relatively constant regardless of speed.
Key Features of Constant Torque VFDs:
Torque remains stable across all speeds (up to base speed).
Horsepower varies linearly with speed (since HP = Torque × Speed).
Typically capable of 100% torque at 0 Hz when used with vector control or encoder feedback.
More robust thermal design compared to variable torque drives.
Requires higher current capacity than variable torque VFDs.
